Google has explicitly stated that participating in AdSense program does not affect your website's position in the search results.
It means that your Blogger websites will not be penalized by Google even though you are displaying AdSense advertisements on your blogs.
AdSense ads are not counted as a part your blog's contents. The AdSense ad code will not interfere with Googlebot's ability to crawl your website.
Google uses PageRank technology to determine your website position in the search results. This technology doesn't get affected by AdSense. Therefore, your blog's ranking is not affected by AdSense.
I also have the opportunity to ask John Muller, a Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google, via twitter regarding AdSense and ranking, and here is the answer:
John Muller explicitly stated
that AdSense is not a ranking factor. So there you go, if you would like to monetize your Blogger website, then do
not hesitate to use AdSense!
Low Page Speed Insight Score and AdSense
It is known that enabling AdSense on your blog will drastically drop the page speed score. The speed score is lowered because it also calculates the ads load as well.
AdSense advertisements come in various forms including picture and video ads. These elements are not stored natively inside your blog.
Simply speaking, AdSense advertisements are loaded from external source. They are not stored together with your contents (articles). That's why the ads are loaded differently. Thus, the page speed score of your blog is reduced.
A lot of new bloggers seem to think that enabling AdSense will lower their websites ranking. It is a misunderstanding which stems from the improper interpretation of Page Speed Insight score.
Blog owners often check the homepage's speed score and ignoring other pages. However, you need to know that each page/post in your blog has different speed score!
Even if your homepage has score below 50, it doesn't always mean that your whole website is bad.

Rank?
Some of your posts may have lower score, while your other posts may have better score. The purpose of Page Speed Insight is to help you to optimize pages with low score.
A website with low Page Speed Insight score may rank on top just fine if the contents load fast in the real-world. As I have stated before, Google uses a complicated algorithm with multiple factors to determine ranking so there is no need to be too obsessed with Page Speed Insight score.
Optimize all you can, not just the page speed score but also the quality of your content.

Core Web Vitals and AdSense
Core Web Vitals are a set of metrics which will be used as a new ranking signal. Basically, they will measure how user-friendly your website is. There are three elements that make up Core Web Vitals:
- First Input Delay (FID), measure interactivity.
-
Large Contentful Paint (LCP), measure the biggest element which get loaded
first.
-
Cumulative Layout Shift (LCS), measure your theme visual stability.
The metrics will be implemented next year so bloggers are preparing for the coming changes. I'm still learning about Core Web Vitals right now so I can not talk about it in detail.
In the mean time, all I can say is that Core Web Vitals can be estimated by Page Speed Insight test. You can also see your blog's core web vitals status from Google Search Console.
SofanMax appears to have better core web vitals after Fiksioner v3
installation; The number of URLs with poor performance is dec. |
If the Core Web Vitals are low, your Search Console will display an error
message which tells your that you need to improve the performance your
site's performance.
So when your Search Console does show poor performance as a result of AdSense implementation, you may need to optimize some of your URLs or choose a better Blogger theme.
Does AdSense implementation interfere with your blog's interactivity?
I have noticed that some Blogger themes become harder to interact with when anchor ads is enabled. Havin lazy-loading enabled for your images and ads may also increase interactivity because your page may load faster.
Currently I am still trying to figure out ads lazy-load. But I have written an article regarding image lazy-load for Blogger, go check it out!
A good Blogger theme should have a clean design without too many third-party
scripts. Lighter themes such as
Fiksioner
and
Textrim
have good Core Web Vitals performance.
Does AdSense affect the loading time of the first biggest element?
If the first thing which gets displayed on a page takes long time to load, you will have bad LCP performance. Based on my understanding, advertisements are not counted as an LCP so AdSense will not interfere with this metric.
Inserting an image and a video on top of your post might be bad for your LCP
because they take longer to load. I personally prefer to have texts to load
first, then have images and videos below the fold.
Does AdSense cause layout shift?
A good Blogger theme should be able to handle AdSense ads without breaking its visual element. If putting ads breaking your blog's look then you have a bad theme. Does putting ads shifted your blog's formatting too badly?
A good Blogger theme should have good ad space which will not interfere with the layout.

Advice From John Muller regarding combining Google products
There are lots of Google products, they can be good even if they're not perfect for Search. You could host content on Google Spreadsheets, but it's not going to be great for SEO. Use & combine the tools that work best for you, implement them appropriately, don't over-do it :).

As you can see from his tweet, we can assume that combination between AdSense and Blogger may not be perfect. However it doesn't mean that it is bad. There is a trade-off between speed score and monetization.
We can optimize our ad placement so that it doesn't interfere with user experience. We can also control the amount of ads which can be displayed so that our visitors will not be disturbed.
Do not get too fixated on a single metric. Combine tools to achieve optimization. Appropriate implementation and not overdoing it are two important points when using AdSense for Blogger!
